An initial naturopathic visit allows me to gather information about your health concerns and begin your treatment. In advance of your visit, you will be sent an intake form and consent to treatment form upon booking. Please fill out the forms and bring them with you to your first visit. For details about visit lengths and fees, please see the Fees page. Blood tests and scan reports (ultrasound/x-ray) ordered by your doctor are considered if available.
Ideally, weekly care is best if you are being treated with acupuncture, reflexology, or mindfulness meditation. The following are the types of therapy I offer:
Acupuncture - A wide range of conditions can be helped with acupuncture. Most medical doctors do not discourage their patients from receiving acupuncture when conventional medicine fails them or when conventional treatment entails too many adverse side effects. Acupuncture is considered complementary to conventional treatments, and is most effective when implemented with lifestyle change. In my practice, chronic pain, anxiety and infertility are the areas I use acupuncture for. Using thin, sterile needles (one use only), enjoy a relaxing and effective treatment.
Nutrition - A whole food diet that is high on real food and low on processed foods. Your plan for improving your diet will be focused on helping you to feel better and have better health. If you are struggling to get pregnant, a healthy diet is a vital part of helping you to improve your fertility. Guidance will be given on meal planning, recipes, quick and easy meal ideas, and how to negotiate meals ordered in restaurants.
Supplements and Herbs - Nutritional supplements and herbs are an important part of naturopathic care. Vitamins are known to slow cellular aging, with less age-related DNA damage. Studies have shown that many supplements improve health and IVF outcomes. Supplements and herbs can help to improve immune function. Please note, for women who are undergoing medical fertility care, herbs are not recommended.
Reflexology - Reflexology is based on the Chinese principle that certain areas on the soles of your feet – known as reflex zones – contain millions of nerve endings that correspond to other parts of the body. By applying pressure to these areas, organs, nerve endings and energy pathways are stimulated to promote health. Reflexology stimulates the body into healing itself by improving circulation, reducing stress, pain, and restoring well-being.
Meditation - Mindfulness meditation is the practice of paying attention to yourself in the here and now, without judgment. Breathing, posture, and guidance through the meditation session are all used to help you relax and interrupt automatic, reflexive fight or flight responses that often lead to anxiety, heighten fears, and create worry. Mindfulness meditation has been shown to reduce anxiety, and is a valuable tool when managing pain or undergoing fertility treatment.
